Intro
Just a simple blog of welding and fab some projects problem processes. pictures of construction.
This a recent project for my neighbor, mostly for his wife who operates the lawn tractor, gardening.
It's a small dumping utility trailer that I repaired and added a mechanical lifting for dumping. It has not been tested yet as far as loads go,
What I repaired was the homemade hinges there was allot of cold welds where the welds did not fuse into the a joining metal, I also dropped the tongue 7 inches down. The previous method of dumping was difficult.
just a bad design really the trailer had the axle wheel base 3/4 towards the back and basically had to lift the entire load and throw it back as the hinges were located on the rear of the trailer frame.
Pictures speak good volumes and in these pic's I have re centred where the axle sits centred on the support and centered in the middle of the trailer, which shifts the load balance to the middle of the trailer. I also cut down where the hinges will be lifting from
In the original design they ended up unhooking the trailer with heavy loads and lifting the box over which allow the box to just fall over uncontrolled and snapped off the hinges and bent the hinges as well..
